37th BCS preliminary test stays on Sep 30
Preliminary test of 37th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examinations will be held on September 30, authorities said today dropping speculations over a change of date.
The BCS tests will be held simultaneously with Dhaka University admission examinations, but on separate venues, Dr Muammed Sadique, chairman of Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC), told The Daily Star this evening.
An uncertainty was brewing among candidates of the BCS tests after Dhaka University announced the same date for holding first-year honours admission tests.
“We have decided not to change the date,” Sadique said, adding that a deferral might set a collision course with admission tests for other public universities.
Prof Shibli Rubayat Ul Islam, dean of the faculty of Business Studies at Dhaka University, told The Daily Star that university authorities have resolved the issue with PSC. “We have agreed to hold the examinations at separate facilities.”
According to PSC sources, the two-hour long preliminary test will be held at 190 centres simultaneously in Dhaka, Chittagong, Rajshahi, Barisal, Khulna, Sylhet and Rangpur centres from 9:30am to 11:30am on September 30.
A total of 2,43,476 candidates are expected to take part in the exam.
Information regarding the exam venue, seat plan and other instructions will be available on the BPSC website: www.bpsc.gov.bd.
