32 houses gutted in 2 districts
At least 32 houses were gutted in two fire incidents in Dinajpur and Panchagarh districts yesterday.
Our Dinajpur correspondent reported that a fire gutted 25 houses of 12 families in Birganj upazila early yesterday.
The fire broke out at Debarupara of Satogram village Birganj at around 4:30pm. Due to strong wind, the fire spread to the surrounding area and burnt 25 houses.
Being informed, firefighters from Birganj upazila headquarters and Thakurgaon rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control at around 5:10pm, said Azizul Haque, station-in-charge of Thakurgaon Fire Station.
The fire originated from the kitchen of one Saiful Islam's house, he added.
In Panchagarh, seven houses were gutted in a fire at Coatbhajini village, a former Indian enclave under Debiganj upazila in Panchagarh district, yesterday, reports our correspondent.
Police and locals said the fire originated from one Isak Ali's kitchen in the village and soon engulfed the adjacent houses.
On information, firefighters from Domar Upazila Fire Station rushed to the spot and put out the blaze with the help of local people.
Upazila project implementation officer visited the spot and gave Tk 1,000 to each of the affected families.
