30 BCL men held over CU infighting
The law enforcer today detained 30 activists of Bangladesh Chhatra Leauge following a factional clash at Chittagong University.
The clash ensued after the followers of the university unit BCL secretary allegedly beat up an activist loyal to the president on the campus around 11:30am, our CU correspondent reports quoting police.
Both the factions also staged showdown with local weapons and locked into chase and counter-chase on the campus.
On information, police rushed to the campus and brought the situation under control, said Ali Asgar Chowdhury, proctor of the university.
However, none was injured seriously in the incident.
Later, the law enforcers picked up 30 activists conducting raids in two residential halls and recovered a number of sharp weapons and iron rods, said Reazul Masud, additional superintendent of police in Chittagong.
The recovery includes 30 sharp weapons, 40 pieces of iron rods and stash of brick chips.
