3-metre-long python rescued in Kurigram
A three-metre-long python was rescued from a village in Mogalbasha union under Sadar upazila of the district yesterday morning.
The snake was later sent to the office of Rangpur forest division, said a livestock officer.
Upazila Livestock Officer Dr Habibur Rahman said some local people of Bayeragirvita village (Char Krishnapur) in the union saw the python while it was coiled with a tree there.
On information, he along with the upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) rescued the python from the area around 9:00am.
The three-metre-long python came floating in the flood from the Indian hills, Habibur said.
Later, the python was handed over to Kurigram forest office and then sent to Rangpur divisional forest official, he said.
Rangpur Divisional Forest Officer Rafiquzzaman Shah said the python will be released to Mithapukur Echo-park (proposed) in Rangpur district.
