2 detained with 22 pistols in Chapainawabganj
Police today recovered 22 pistols, 136 rounds of bullet and detained two persons in this connection from Chapainawabganj town this afternoon.
The law enforcers picked up Rokeya Begum, owner of the house and one Shakil Ahmed for interrogation, our local correspondent reports quoting TM Mujahidul Islam, superintendent of police in Chapainawabganj.
Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a drive at a house in Shangkarbati area of the district town around 1:30pm and recovered the firearms with around 45 magazines, the police official said.
The SP claimed that the firearms smuggled from India were being stored in the house by a group of criminals.
“The criminals were engaged in planning to send the firearms in different parts of the country for subversive activities,” the police official added.
The house, however, has been given rent to a group of goat traders, Muzahidul said quoting the house owner.
