2 cops closed on charge of beating AL man
Two policemen were closed to the district police lines on Friday on charge of beating a Swechchhasebak League leader.
They are Sub-Inspector Nawabur Rahman and constable Sadek Hossain of Barapukuria Coal Mine Police Investigation Centre in Parbatipur upazila of the district.
On Thursday morning, the supports of two rivals--one led by Mohsin Ali, a local activist of Awami League, and another by Mohammad Ali, general secretary of the upazila unit of Swechchhasebak League--locked in an altercation over dropping of tender documents for a work of Barapukuria Coal Mining Company Ltd, said locals.
When Mohammad Ali came to drop his schedule documents at noon, his rivals caught him and took away his motorbike. Later, police took the vehicle to the centre.
When Mohammad Ali went to file a case for snatching his motorbike, the policemen confined him to the centre and beat him up mercilessly.
On information, Akhter Hossain, president of the unit, rescued Mohammad Ali from the spot.
