15,000 Bangladeshis in foreign jails
Over 15,000 Bangladeshis are currently jailed in different countries all over the world, Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed said at the parliament today.
The accurate number stands at 15,149, with a majority of 10,885 in Saudi Arabia alone, the minister said in response to a lawmakers’ query session.
Tofail Ahmed was briefing on behalf of Expatriates Welfare Minister Nurul Islam.
According to him, the others are imprisoned in United Arab Emirates, Malaysia, Oman, Kuwait, Qatar, Greece, Libya, Italy, Maldives, Iraq, Hong Kong, Singapore, Jordan, South Korea, Japan, Mauritius and Thailand.
