14 years RI for 2 JMB men
A court here yesterday awarded 14 years' rigorous imprisonment to two members of 'Islam and Muslim,' an offshoot of banned Islamist militant organisation Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), in an arms case.
Judge of Special Tribunal-2, also Additional District Judge of the district, Ziaur Rahman handed down the verdict.
The convicts are Rabiul, 25, of Bholahat upazila and Md Momin, 21, of Gomostapur upazila.
Police arrested Momin with bullets in his possession in Khorogpur under Shibganj upazila on June 14 in 2009. On Momin's confessional statement, a special intelligence team from Dhaka arrested Rabiul on June 16 the same year.
Arms recovered in Bogra
Meanwhile, police yesterday recovered arms, ammunition and lethal weapons from Baluahat area under Sonatola upazila of the district on the confessional statement of two remanded JMB men, our Bogra correspondent reports.
They are Sultan Mahmud, 48, Shura member of JMB and publicity secretary of its Rangpur division unit, and Shahadat Hossain alias Ratan, 23, a member of JMB of the same unit.
