14 'Shibir men' held at RU
Police claimed to have detained 14 activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir raiding a dormitory of Rajshahi University for their alleged link with the acts of terrorism.
The law enforcers recovered some jihadi books, leaflets and diaries during the raid at Sher-e-Bangla Fazlul Huq Hall, a RU correspondent reports quoting Amir Zafar, deputy commissioner (East) of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police.
The arrestees are Mehdi Hasan, Abdul Haque Manik, Shariful Islam, Anwarul Haq, Mushtaq, Abdus Sabur, Sajid, Fahad Alam, Abul Khair, Yusuf Ali, Sirajul Islam Sumon, Lokman Hossain Siraji, Raihan Hossain Sumon and Mohammad Sanaullah, imam of the hall mosque.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team carried out the raid at different rooms of the hall around 3:30pm and detained the activists of Shibir, student front of Jamaat-e-Islami, for their alleged link with terrorist activities, the DC added.
