10yr max jail for sabotage on power station
Bangladesh government today approved a draft law that would hand out 10 years of maximum jail term and Tk 10 crore fine or both for sabotage on power stations.
As per the draft law of Power Act 2016, the violator will face seven years imprisonment as minimum punishment.
The Power Act 2016 will be applicable for all power stations and sub-stations throughout the country.
Today’s regular cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina approved the law. Cabinet Secretary M Shafiul Alam briefed reporters after the meeting.
The draft power act has been upgraded more than 100 years later. The existing law is the Power Act-1910.
