Cope up with technology, public demand, PM tells BTV
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today highly praised the role of Bangladesh Television (BTV) in flourishing Bengali culture and heritage across the world asking the national television channel to cope up with technology and public demand.
She said, "BTV must produce life-oriented programmes to attract audience. It should not be limited in supplying information. The national television must work as an institution which will guide taste and behaviour of the people."
The premier was said this while inaugurating week-long Golden Jubilee programmes of Bangladesh Television at a function at its Rampura Bhaban premises this afternoon.
Hasina said the government wants to make BTV as a real national institution. So, BTV must keep it abreast with new technologies and public demand while producing programmes.
As the prime national broadcaster, BTV's responsibility is quite different from private channels. Private channels give priority to their business while BTV have to give importance to the demand of the people, she said.
She asked the officials concerned to create scope for talented, creative and competent persons in producing BTV's programmes to retrieve the past glory.
Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu and Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor attended the function as special guests while Information Secretary Martuza Ahmed was in the chair.
