Convicted BDR mutineer dies of brain tumour
A convicted mutineer of erstwhile Bangladesh Rifles, now Border Guard Bangladesh, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital yearly yesterday.
The dead, Subedar Abdus Sobhan, 63, was a resident of Uttar Kachhipara village in Patuakhali's Baufal upazila.
Sobhan was diagnosed with a brain tumour. He was taken to the hospital from Dhaka Central Jail on Sunday after his condition deteriorated and died around 3:20am there, said his son Miraj Hawlader.
He was awarded a four-year jail term as his involvement was found in the BDR mutiny in 2009, said Miraj, adding that, his father was scheduled to be released after seven months.
Sobhan would be buried at his ancestral graveyard in Baufal, he added.
