College student, 2 kids drown
A college student drowned in a pond adjacent to Jessore Cantonment on Monday.
The dead is Nafis Sadik Rafi, a Class XI student of Jessore Government MM College and son of Bappi Hossain, reports UNB.
Witnesses said Rafi slipped into the water when he along with his friends went to take bath in the pond in the afternoon and died.
Later, an army team recovered the body from the pond.
Meanwhile, two schoolboys drowned in a canal at Akandapara village in Islampur upazila of Manikganj district yesterday, reports our correspondent.
The deceased are Raju, 7, son of Abdur Rouf and his cousin Rifat, 8, son of Abdur Razzak of the village. They were the class one and class two students at Akandapara Government Primary School.
Locals said the duo went to take a dip in the canal around 12:00 noon and went missing.
On information, locals rushed to the spot, rescued the boys and rescued the boys and sent them to the upazila health complex where on duty doctors declared them dead, said Md Enamul Haque, chairman of Goalerchar union parishad.
In Feni, police recovered the body of a young man, aged about 25, from Kalidas Pahalia River on Sunday, reports our correspondent.
