Work for mitigating DND waterlogging to begin soon
The implementation task of the Tk 536 crore project for as permanent solution to the waterlogging problem and development of drainage system in Dhaka-Narayanganj-Demra (DND) area will begin soon after approval of the project, Water Resources Minister Anisul Islam Mahmud told parliament yesterday.
Replying to lawmakers' queries, the minister said, the government prepared a detailed project proposal titled "Development of Drain out System in Dhaka-Narayanganj-Demra (DND) Area Phase-2."
Anisul also informed the House that an appraisal meeting in this regard was held at the ministry on April 5, 2016.
"As per the decision of the meeting, the detailed project proposal is now pending with the Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) for approval," he added.
Replying to another query, Anisul said BWDB implemented 81 projects in the last seven years of the present government, adding that the government was relentlessly working for management and development of water resources specially flood control and river erosion across the country.
