Bodies of 2 women recovered in Dhaka
Police today recovered bodies of two women from Dhaka’s Uttara and Kafrul area.
The slit-throat body of a woman was found at a room of Neela Abashik Hotel in Abdullahpur area. The deceased was identified as Pushpo Rani Shil, 44, as recorded in the hotel book.
She had checked into the hotel yesterday along with a man Durjoy, 30, and a two-year-old child, said Ali Hosen Khan, officer-in-charge of Uttara West Police Station.
They introduced themselves as husband and wife and said they came from Tangail, the police official said.
Madhob Shil, a relative of Pushpo, told The Daily Star that she went out of his Moddhya Badda house along with her grand-daughter, Monisha, 2, around 5:00pm on Monday with a distant relative.
Durjoy, along with the child, got out of the hotel around 4:00am, raising suspicion among the hotel staff. Then, the hotel staff informed the police. The police broke into the room and recovered the body. The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College morgue.
However, the whereabouts of the child could not be known till filing of the report around 8:00 pm.
Meanwhile, police recovered the slit-throat body of a housewife from her house in Ibrahimpur area of Kafrul this afternoon.
Kamrul Islam, officer-in-charge (operation) of Kafrul Police station, said they were informed that the body of the woman, Rozina Akhtar Mitu, 28, was lying in the ground floor of a six-storey building.
Rozina was living at the rented house with her two daughters as her husband lives in Saudi Arabia, the police official said.
Shakil, nephew of Rozina’s husband, might have been involved in the killing, he said adding that the suspect is on the run.
