A married woman was found hanging in her Horindhara house in Savar, outside the capital, early yesterday.
Savar model police, who recovered the body of Mazeda Khatun, 25, wife of Jashim Uddin, said they were not sure whether it was a suicide or murder as the door of the room was locked from inside.
The body bore some fresh injury marks which suggest that Mazeda was beaten before her death, added police.
Mazeda's father Shofi Uddin, a farmer, claimed that Jashim, 35, a local clothe-store owner, was a drug addict and used to beat Mazeda with the help of his brothers, Md Ali and Ahamad Ali, and acquaintances Liton, Dulal and Asadullah. Shofi filed a murder case against the six, who went into hiding after the incident.
