WB's $2b pledge worries TIB
Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) expressed concern over the World Bank's pledge to provide $2 billion loan as help during natural calamities, said a press release yesterday.
TIB urged the government to not to accept any loans as climate finance, especially when grants should be made available as compensation, it said, adding, the loan will merely spread WB's business. “It is unacceptable that the bank appears to see an opportunity for expanding its business of lending,” said TIB Executive Director Iftekharuzzaman.
