Three held Noakhali 'Razakars' sent to jail
The International Crimes Tribunal-1 yesterday sent three war crimes accused from Noakhali to jail after police produced them before it.
The three-member tribunal also fixed October 14 for passing the next order in the case.
The three accused are Amir Ahmad alias Razakar Amir Ali, 70, Md Joynal Abedin, 73, and Mohammad Yusuf, 60.
The three were arrested yesterday after the tribunal issued an arrest warrant against five alleged Razakars for committing war crimes in Sudharam upazila during the Liberation War.
Police are trying to arrest the two other “Razakars” -- Abul Kalam alias AKM Mansur, 67, of Nandanpur; and Md Abdul Kuddus, 84, of Laxminarayanpur of the upazila--, Prosecutor Zahid Imam told The Daily Star.
The prosecution pressed three charges against the five for their alleged involvement in the murder of at least 111 people in three incidents.
Meanwhile, the tribunal asked the prosecution to submit progress report by November 9 into the allegations against war crimes accused Liakat Ali, an alleged Razakar from Habiganj.
