Three burnt as gas pipe leaks in house
Three members of a family were burnt as their tin-shed house gutted by a fire in the capital's Jurain early yesterday.
Rickshaw puller Khorshed Alam, 40, with 28 percent burns and his wife Zahura Begum, 35, with 14 percent burns, were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Their five-year-old son Rifat took treatment at the hospital for some five percent burns.
Shyampur police after preliminary investigation said the gas transmission pipe in the one-room house leaked and the room did not have any window to pass the trapped gas. The house caught fire when Khorshed tried to light a cigarette.
Locals doused the blaze later.
