Three awarded for role in exploring archeological sites, literature
Eminent personalities and experts yesterday emphasised conducting researches for exploring more archeological sites, literature and history in Bangladesh, at an award-giving ceremony in Sufia Kamal Auditorium of Bangladesh National Museum.
Agrashar Bikrampur Foundation, a socio-cultural organisation, bestowed “Ganalok Puroskar” on three persons for enlightening the society through different social and cultural activities.
Each of the three -- litterateur and scientist Purobi Bosu, archaeologist Prof Sufi Mostafizur Rahman and social worker Mohammad Habibullah Pathan -- were given a crest and Tk 1 lakh.
Habibullah, a resident of Bateswar in Balabo upazila of Narsingdi, played an important role in discovering Wari-Bateswar, an archaeological site.
Mostafizur contributed to conducting research and excavating different archaeological sites including Narsingdi's Wari-Bateswar, and Munshiganj's Nateshwar. Purobi contributed to Bangla literature.
The foundation President Nooh Ul Alam Lenin chaired the ceremony where Finance Minister AMA Muhith was the chief guest. Attorney General Mahbubey Alam and Jahangirnagar University Vice Chancellor Prof Farzana Islam, among others, spoke.
