Workers of 20 gardens of Sylhet Surma Valley under the banner of Bangladesh Tea Labourers Federation Sylhet district unit also staged a rally at Lakkatura Tea Estate's Rest Camp Bazar.
They demanded, among others, their daily wage be increased to Tk 300 from Tk 85, the tea garden authorities ensure their rights to the land where they are living or farming so that none can evict them to use the land for other purposes, the authorities improve their health facilities, and the government open schools in tea garden areas or include quotas for easy admission of their wards to ensure their education facilities.
