Sylhet press sealed, 5 arrested over 'anti-state' publications
Police yesterday sealed off a printing press and seized its all materials over printing "anti-state" and "religiously provocative" posters and leaflets in Sylhet city.
They arrested five men at the press.
On information, a team of police raided Star Sylhet Offset Printers at Al-Marzan Shopping Complex in Zindabazar, said Sohel Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station.
The arrested men are owner of the press Sayeed Baks Chowdhury and employees Salman, Suhel Ahmed, Misbah-ul-Karim and Monayem.
Police also seized "anti-state" and "provocative" posters and leaflets, said the OC.
He said the printing press was maintained by the Jamaat-e-Islami and the posters and leaflets aimed at running "anti-state activities" and for "religious provocations".
