Man kills 2 of in-laws' family
A grandmother and her granddaughter were stabbed dead by a relative over a family feud in Islambagh area of Dhaka this afternoon.
The decease-Begum, 60, and her granddaughter Borna, 20, were residents of Islambagh Hajji Mosque Lane, Bachchu Mia, in-charge of police outpost of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, told The Daily Star.
Begum’s daughter Shima (Borna’s mother) also suffered stab wounds in the incident, said Shohag, husband of slain Borna.
“Shumi (another daughter of Begum) died last year during labour. Since then, Begum has taken care of the new born and Shumi’s nine-year-old daughter,” Shohag told The Daily Star.
But, Shumi’s husband Jibon has been recently demanding custody of the children, Shohag added.
Following the row over the children’s custody, Jibon, equipped with sharp weapons, entered into the house around 3:00pm and stabbed them indiscriminately, he added.
However, Jibon managed to flee the scene along with his children, but after chased by the locals, he left them.
Locals rushed Borna and Shima to the DMCH where Borna succumbed to the injuries around 3:30pm.
