Sherpur, Jessore men sent to jail
The International Crimes Tribunal-1 yesterday sent two men -- one from Sherpur and the other from Jessore -- to jail in two cases filed over committing crimes against humanity during the Liberation War in 1971.
The tribunal delivered the orders in the cases after police produced the two accused before it. They are Amjad Hossain Mollah from Premchara village under Bagharpara upazila of Jessore and AKM Akram from Sherpur.
Police arrested Akram on April 24 issued an arrest warrant for him.
Among the other three accused, Aminuzzaman Faruk and Emdadul Haque alias Khwaza Doctor are now in jail while Mukhlesur Rahman alias Tara is yet to be arrested.
The tribunal also directed the prosecution to submit the investigation report of the case on July 31.
Amjad of Jessore was arrested on May 15 in a case file under Explosive Substances Act. He was shown arrested in the war crimes case on May 17.
The tribunal also directed the prosecution to submit the investigation report on August 5.
TWO NARAIL MEN TO BE QUIZZED
In another development, the tribunal, following a petition by the prosecution, allowed to interrogate two Narail men in connection with a case filed over wartime crimes.
As per the order, investigators of the case will be able to interrogate Gulzar Khan and Mohammad Daud of Narail sadar upazila one day each on May 28 and 29 at the safe home of the tribunal's investigation agency, Prosecutor Rezia Sultana Chaman told this correspondent.
Gulzar and Daud are among six accused in the case.
