Seven get life term for killing man in Rangpur
A Rangpur court yesterday sentenced seven people, including two women, to life imprisonment for killing a man in Mithapukur upazila in the district in 2006.
The convicts are Labu Mia, Abdul Aziz, Nehal Uddin, Omela Begum, and Nur Islam, all of Taraf-Bahari village in the upazila. The other two, Arjina Begum and her husband Moshiur Rahman, are absconding.
Moshiur and Arjina beat the former's uncle Belal Hossain, a farmer of Dinajpur's Mondalpara village, in their Taraf-Bahari residence on September 29 as he intervened in their conjugal feud. Their other family members and neighbours also assisted them.
Belal died on October 1.
