Ruling AL choking opposition
Accusing the ruling Awami League of making politics tough for the opposition, BNP yesterday alleged that the government has again started filing “false” cases and arresting the party men so that they cannot conduct political activities.
At a press conference at the party's Nayapaltan headquarters in Dhaka, its standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan said, “I want to know clearly from the government whether they are interested in allowing others to do politics or not.”
He said the government sued BNP leaders, including Tariqul Islam, in a bid to push them towards death and subsequently stop its politics. It is not fair and good for politics, he added. The government needs not any probe body or court as the prime minister accused BNP leaders of involving in the recent killings of two foreigners without any investigation, Nazrul said.
