Road crashes kill nine
Nine people were killed in separate road accidents in the country yesterday.
Our correspondent from Chittagong reports, five people were killed and many others were injured as a bus with some 40 passengers fell into a ditch beside Baroiarhat-Khagrachari road at Noytila in Mirsharai upazila of Chittagong yesterday afternoon.
Police could not identify the five dead, including a woman, immediately.
The injured were admitted to different nearby hospitals.
In Dinajpur, three persons were killed and 10 others injured when a bus fell into a roadside ditch after hitting a three-wheeler at Rampura crossing on Dinajpur-Thakurgaon highway in Kaharol upazila, reports BSS.
The dead are Joynob Begum, 55, of Baropatia village, Majedur Rahman, 30, of Gachahar village in Chirirbandar upazila, and Salman Ali, 35, an auto-rickshaw driver.
Three of the injured, being treated at Dinajpur M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital, are in critical condition.
A case was filed in this connection.
Our Dinajpur correspondent adds, Mysha Akter, 5, daughter of Alam Chowdhury of village Betdighi in Phulbari upazila of Dinajpur, was killed as a truck hit her at Nimtola in the upazila yesterday.
