Road crashes kill 3 in Ctg
Three people, including a woman, were killed and five others injured in two road accidents in Chittagong yesterday.
In Sitakundaupazila of the district, two people were killed on the spot when a Chittagong-bound bus of ShyamoliParibahan turned turtle after the driver lost his control over the vehicle on Dhaka-Chittagong Highway in Banshbaria area, said Sergeant NizamulFahami, in-charge of Kumir Highway Police outpost.
The deceased were Julfikar, 65, of Bandarban and RezaulKabir, 45, of Pirojpur.
Three more passengers of the bus were also injured in the accident. Two of them were rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital while anotherone took primary treatment, he further said.
In another accident, a woman was killed and two men, including her husband, were injured as a bus hit a rickshaw and ran into a roadside tree after the driver lost his control over the vehicle in Polo-ground area of the city.
The deceased was JesminAkter, 40, of the district. Her husband MdFaruk, 50, and another injured Belal, 33, are undergoing treatment at Chittagong Medical College Hospital, said police.
Jesmin and Faruk were the passengers of the rickshaw, said MdShahjahan, sub-inspector of Kotwali Police Station.
