Road crashes claim four lives in 3 dists
At least 4 persons were killed and 19 others injured in separate road accidents in Chittagong, Kishoreganj and Comilla districts.
In Chittagong, two men were killed when a passenger bus collided with a covered van on Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Sitakunda upazila yesterday, reports our local correspondent.
The identity of the duo could not be known immediately, police said. The incident left 16 people injured, of which 15 took treatment at Sitakunda Upazila Health Complex, while one was referred to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
In Kishoreganj, Ataur Rahman, 45, was killed on the spot when a battery-run auto-rickshaw collided head on with a truck on Kishoreganj-Mymensingh highway yesterday, police said quoting locals.
The incident also injured six persons, who were taken to Kishoreganj sadar hospital, police said, adding two of them, Muklesur Rahman, 32, and Habibur Rahman, 60, were later shifted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.
Meanwhile in Comilla, three people including additional IGP Mukhlesur Rahman were injured when a cargo lorry hit a car on Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Kotbari area on Thursday, reports our local correspondent.
The trio was taken to Comilla CMH where they took primary treatment before leaving for Dhaka, police said.
