Road crashes claim 4 lives
Four persons were killed and three including two children injured in road accidents in Mymensingh and Gaibandha on Wednesday and yesterday.
Our Mymensingh correspondent reports, two persons died and three including two children were injured after a sand-laden truck hit a battery-run auto-rickshaw carrying them around 10:30pm on Wednesday.
The incident took place on Mymensingh-Netrakona road in Gachhtola Bazar area under Tarakanda upazila, said OC Mazharul Haque of Tarakanda Police Station.
The dead are Al Amin, 32, and Shahab Uddin, 43, of village Mojaharpur. Police handed over the bodies to the families, said the OC, adding, the driver managed to flee.
The injured -- Hasan, 10, Kawsar, 10, and Ujjal, 18, -- were admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital in a critical condition.
Meanwhile, two persons died as a microbus hit their motorbike on Rangpur-Bogra highway in Jundaha bazar area around 2:00pm yesterday, reports our Gaibandha correspondent.
The deceased -- Muktar Hossain, 40, and Moktar Mia, 22, of Giridharipur village under Palashbari upazila -- were returning home after work, said police.
Muktar Hossain died on the spot and Moktar Mia died on his way to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
