Road accidents kill four
At least four persons were killed and five injured in road accidents across the country yesterday.
In Gopalganj, housewife Rajia Begum, 55, died after a car ran over a rickshaw-van in Kashiani upazila on Dhaka-Khulna highway, said police.
The accident injured Rajia and the rickshaw puller, who were both taken to a local hospital where the she was declared dead, police said adding that the driver was taken to Gopalganj General Hospital.”
In Jamalpur, an unidentified man aged around 65 died and four others were injured after a CNG-run autorickshaw carrying them collided head-on with a human-haulier on Jamalpur-Mymensingh road, reports our local correspondent.
The five injured were rushed to a local hospital where the victim died, police said.
In Jessore, human haulier driver Jahidul Islam, 35, was killed on the spot after he lost control of the vehicle and it overturned in Chowgacha-Narayanpur road, witnesses said.
Meanwhile, in Panchagargh, motorcyclist Abdul Matin, 28, died after he lost control of the bike and hit a roadside tree in Boda upazila, reports our correspondent.
The incident left him critically injured and he was taken to a local hospital where doctors declared him dead.
