'Rapist' had Pitha after fleeing custody
The alleged rapist of Garo girl who escaped from police custody hid his handcuffed hand in his trousers pocket and covered it up with a cloth, making it look like a bandaged arm. He then walked away from the court premises without anybody’s notice.
Rafsan Hossain alias Rubel, the alleged rapist, then called up a relative and received Tk 1,000 through bKash transfer. Police withheld the name of the relative for investigation purposes.
Sensing it was not safe for him outside in broad daylight, he went into a nearby mosque and offered prayers.
He stayed there until nightfall as police, who were already on alert throughout the Old Dhaka court premises and adjacent areas along with Dhaka city, were searching for him. All this time he kept his hand hidden.
PITHA FOR DINNER, CHATPATI FOR LUNCH
He came out of the mosque after dusk and had a cup of tea and a cigarette. He then went to Badda, from where he was captured in the first place five days ago.
Getting off near Suvastu Tower around 9:30pm, he realised it was unsafe for him and he moved on to Bhatara.
He had Chitai Pitha with mustard sauce for dinner.
He went to a nearby playground and sat there for a while before spending the rest of Sunday night sleeping on the rooftop of a nearby building.
He still had the handcuffs Monday morning.
After breakfast, Rubel headed for Tongi.
Undecided on what to do next, Rubel headed back to Dhaka – in Badda.
There he took shelter in a mess.
Police, however, received information that he was in Badda. A manhunt was launched.
So this morning, when he tried to board a bus near Suvastu Tower he was caught by a plainclothes man.
