Rangpur city fixes Tk 801cr budget
The Rangpur City Corporation authority yesterday declared a surplus budget of over Tk 801 core for the FY 2016-17.
Flanked by other officials and councillors of the city corporation, RCC Mayor Sorfuddin Ahmed Jhantu announced the budget at a hall room of Nagar Bhaban in the district.
RCC declared the budget with Tk 801.25 crore earning target from different sources including revenue and Tk 798.77crore as expenditure, while the last year's budget was Tk.645.05 crore.
The mayor said this year they were not levying any additional tax on the city dwellers as the earning target exceeded the expenditure by around Tk 2 crore.
Replying to the queries of journalists, Sorfuddin said they were giving equal priority to development of all 18 wards under RCC.
He added that they would also focus on mitigating traffic congestion, building recreation centre for both children and grown-ups, and develop road communication.
RCC Executive Officer Ruhul Amin and Accountant Abdul Hakim also spoke.
