Slain RU Prof’s organisation marks 12yrs
A cultural programme was arranged today to mark the twelve years’ anniversary of a cultural organisation founded by slain Rajshahi University Professor Rezaul Karim Siddiquee on the university campus.

The students of RU English department and members of the organisation “Komolgandhar” together arranged the programme in front of Shahidullah Arts Building on the campus this afternoon.

The students also set up a stall titled 'Tumi Robe Nirobe [you will remain in silence]' to exhibit the belongings of the RU professor.
“We have exhibited the sitar, harmonium, binocular, camera and other belongings of our beloved teacher,” Rakib Shohan, an MA student of the department and a volunteer for the program, told The Daily Star.

RU Vice Chancellor Professor Muhammad Mizanuddin, Pro-vice Chancellor Professor Chowdhury Sarwar Jahan, Chairman of English department Maswood Akhter and other teachers of the department were present at the program that started at 4:30pm and visited the stall, Shohan added.

Performers from the department and the organisation presented songs, dances and played musical instruments.
Riasat Imtiaz, son of the professor, gave a sitar performance “reminding the audience of his father’s performances and love for music”, a former student of the English department said.

Prof Siddiquee was brutally murdered in Shalbagan area of Rajshahi city by religious extremists while he was awaiting transport on his way to the university campus on April 23 last year.
