President urges Brazil to import more goods
President M Abdul Hamid yesterday urged Brazil to import more Bangladeshi goods including readymade garment (RMG), pharmaceuticals, jute-materials and ceramics.
The president made the call when ambassador-designate of Brazil to Bangladesh Joao Tabajara de Oliveira Junior presented his credential to him at Bangabhaban in the capital.
"Bangladesh produces world-standard goods especially readymade garments (RMG), pharmaceuticals, jute-materials and ceramics... you (Brazilian envoy) can take necessary steps to import those products from our country," president's press secretary Joynal Abedin quoted the president as telling the envoy.
Referring to the opening of Bangladesh mission in Brazil, Abdul Hamid observed that it has opened a new door of trade and investment between the two countries those opine with the same spirit in the United Nations and other international forums on various issues including climate change, migration, world peace and security aspects.
The president welcomed the new ambassador and assured him of providing all-out supports in discharging his duties in Bangladesh.
He also called for sharing experiences in agriculture, sports and culture and exchanging high-level visits between the two countries.
Abdul Hamid hoped that the bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Brazil would further extend in the upcoming days.
The envoy said he would continue to put efforts to enhance bilateral relations with Bangladesh and sought president's cooperation in discharging his duties.
