Police clearance certificate now available online
Issuing a police clearance certificate (PCC) would not require going to the police station anymore, thanks to a new initiative of “digitising” the service.
Expatriates and those seeking to go abroad will be able to apply for the certificate online through a website launched yesterday.
The site pcc.police.gov.bd was formally launched by Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal at a ceremony in the capital's Rajarbagh Police Lines.
The mobile-friendly site, which opened for Comilla on November 20, last year, and for Sylhet Metropolitan area on January 1, already issued over 5,000 PCCs, said top police officials.
The PCCs were issued within 10-11 days of the applications, they added.
Inspector General of Police AKM Shahidul Hoque and Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Asaduzzaman Miah spoke at the event.
The PCC applicants would scan and upload the required documents and bank drafts while applying, they informed.
The applicant would either receive the certificate from the police station or via postal service. Applicants can also print out the PCC from any computer. Each PCC, containing a QR code, would be verifiable from anywhere.
The country's image would improve abroad through the initiative, hoped the home minister.
