Patchy rain inundates Uttara
Most parts of Uttara area in the capital yesterday went under knee-deep water following a heavy downpour.
The rainfall data, however, could not be gathered as the city's lone precipitation gauge only records rainfall in the immediate vicinity of Agargaon where the met office is located, said Abul Kalam Mallik, duty forecasting officer (meteorologist) at the office.
Such a patchy rainfall may occur during monsoon with an attribute of heavy showers during a short period, he also said.
Hossain Manzoor, a resident of Uttara, said the rain was so heavy that the newly laid down storm sewer system in the area could not swiftly disperse the large volume of rainwater.
