Nooruzzaman's death anniv today
Today is the seventh death anniversary of Lt Col (retd) Quazi Nooruzzaman Bir Uttam.
On this day in 2011, he passed away at the age of 86, says a press release. He was the commander of sector 7 during the 1971 Liberation War.

During his tenure as chairman of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad in early 80s, he demanded a ban on Jamaat-e-Islami. For this reason, he was sent to jail by HM Ershad. Nooruzzaman was born in Jessore in 1925. The late commander was also a writer.
