N'ganj mosque caretaker injured by assault
Unidentified assailants hit a caretaker of a mosque with iron rods on different parts of his body in Narayanganj city early yesterday.
Qari Mohammad Ibrahim, son of late Maulana Azizullah of Ladur Char village in Noagaon of Sonargaon upazila, was attacked in his room beside Noor mosque adjacent to Chasara Press Club.
The mosque's security guards rushed Ibrahim to Narayanganj 300-bed hospital.
Ibrahim told reporters that he could not identify any of the attackers.
He said he had been working in the mosque for 27 years and he had no enmity with anybody for which he could be attacked.
To avoid hassle Ibrahim would not file any case, he added.
Narayanganj Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abdul Malek said alongside serving at the mosque Ibrahim also ran a tea stall in front of it.
The OC, however, said previous enmity might have led to the attack.
