3 including cop killed in road accidents
At least three people were killed and six injured in road accidents in two districts yesterday, report our correspondent and an agency.
In Chattogram, two people were killed and six injured in a head-on-collision between a bus and truck on Chattogram-Cox's Bazar highway in Lohagara upazila.
The deceased were identified as Rina Akter (18) from Cox's Bazar's Chakaria upazila and Senu Ara Begum (29) from Ramu upazila of Cox's Bazar.
The accident occurred around 8:30am, when the Chattogram-bound Marsa Paribahan bus collided with a stone-laden truck, said Inspector Abdur Rauf of Dohazari Highway Police Station.
The injured were taken to the upazila health complex.
Police recovered the bodies and sent them to a local hospital morgue for autopsy. Both vehicles were seized, said Rauf.
In Natore town, a police officer was killed in a road accident while he was on a morning walk.
Deceased Bishnu Paul (40) was assistant town sub-inspector at Natore Police Lines.
An unidentified vehicle hit Bishnu while he was walking at Boro Harishpur Shashanghat area, said Ramjan Ali Khan, reserve inspector of the police lines.
Locals rescued and rushed him to Sadar Hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead, the official said.
A truck might have hit him, he added.
