Minister hopes ‘rational solution’ with Uber
Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today pinned hope on a “rational and practical” solution with Uber, a popular taxi-service app.
The road transport authority has been told to take initiative in this regard, he said at a programme in the capital’s Jatiya Press Club this afternoon.

Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) has already dubbed Uber services “illegal” in Dhaka city as it did not take permission since its inception from last month.
However, Obaidul Quader had a more liberal approach in the matter and said the government “welcomes modern and smart systems”. However, he insisted on bringing Uber under a legal framework.
