Medical student killed in Bangshal road crash
A female medical student was killed and her mother injured in a road accident at Nayabazar in the old part of Dhaka this morning.
Sadia Hasan Khan, 23, was a final year student of Dhaka National Medical College.
Sadia was critically wounded after a high-speed bus hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in which she along with her mother was travelling to her institute around 7:00am, Atwar Hosssain, an uncle of the victim, told The Daily Star.
Doctors pronounced her dead when she was rushed to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital around 7:30am, he said.
Sadia’s mother Shahin Sultana received minor injuries when the tree-wheeler overturned following the accident, Sub-inspector (SI) Bachchu Mia of DMCH police outpost.
Hailing from Rajshahi, Sadia is the daughter of Hasanuzzaman, a former deputy general manager of Pubali Bank, the uncle said.
She arrived in Dhaka from Rajshahi by train this morning.
The bus fled the scene after the accident and law enforcers are investigating the matter, Nur Alam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bangshal Police Station, said.
