Man held for 'raping' step-daughter

Police arrested a man for allegedly raping his 11-year-old step-daughter at Khadimnagar area in Sylhet yesterday.

The arrestee Kamal Ahmed, 45, is a resident of Majortila area in Sylhet.

The victim is Kamal step-daughter lived with him in his rented house at Majortila area in the district.

Kamal reportedly raped the girl on the 7th and 14th of December, police said quoting the victim's maternal grandmother. 

The girl informed her grandmother about the incident, who rescued her and took her to local union chairman.

She is now undergoing treatment at One-Stop Crisis Centre (OCC) of Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College and Hospital.

A case has been filed with Shahporan Police Station in this regard, Akhter Hossain, officer-in-charge of the Police Station said.
