Man held with gold in Ctg airport
Customs officials detained a man with eight gold bars, weighing 928 grams and worth Tk 40 lakh, at Chitta-gong Shah Amanat International Airport yesterday.
The detainee Md Morshed, 42, of Hathazari upazila in Chittagong arrived at the airport by a flight of US Bangla from Muscat, said Kamrul Islam, assistant commissioner of airport Customs.
Noticing his suspicious movement while he was crossing the green channel, customs officials searched his body and found the gold bars, said Kamrul.
During interrogation Morshed said a Bangladeshi expatriate, Saiful Islam, asked him to carry the gold bars in exchange of his ticket cost, he added.
