Malaysian MPs want inclusive polls: Fakhrul
Visiting Malaysian parliamentary delegates want to see an inclusive parliamentary election, claimed BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
“They [Malaysian delegates] want an inclusive and acceptable election... They repeatedly said they are waiting to see a peaceful transfer of power through a fair election,” he claimed.
A Malaysian delegation held a meeting with BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia at the latter's Gulshan office yesterday. The delegates did not talk to the media.
Commonwealth Women Parliamentary Association Chairperson Noraini Ahmad led the three-member delegation. Among them, there was also a deputy opposition leader of the Malaysian parliament.
Earlier on Monday, US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Thomas A Shannon and a delegation of Canadian lawmakers met Khaleda at her office.
