Major streets to remain off-limits to Dhaka commuters ahead of IPU conference
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) today said vehicular movement will be restricted in some roads on April 1 ahead of the Inter Parliamentary Union (IPU) conference.
Movement of vehicles will be restricted from 7:00am to 10:00pm on April 1 from Aarong crossing in Manik Mia Avenue to Khejur Bagan crossing in eastern part of Manik Mia Avenue, DMP Traffic department said in a release this evening.
Vehicular movement will be also restricted from BICC crossing to Defence gap via Gano Bhaban School from April 1 to 5 from 7:00am to 10:00pm, it read.
Also, vehicular movement might be slow in the roads adjacent to Hazrat Shahjalal International airport on Friday, as most of the delegates will reach Dhaka on Friday and for their smooth movement the special arrangement was made, the release also read.
DMP is requesting the passengers, who will go abroad, to take some time in their hands to reach the airport, it added.
The steps were taken to ensure smooth movement of the foreign delegates who will join the 136th Assembly of IPU scheduled to be held from April 1 to 5.
More than 1500 delegates from 171 countries will join the IPU conference.
