Legal notice seeks ban on meetings at Suhrawardy
A Supreme Court lawyer today sent a legal notice to the authorities concerned asking them to take a step in 24hrs to ban using loud speakers, processions and meetings at Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka which is adjacent to the Supreme Court.
Eunus Ali Akond served the notice to the home secretary, inspector general of police and a registrar general of the Supreme Court saying that the environment is being damaged and the judicial functions of the apex court are hampered due to different programmes like processions and meetings at the Suhrawardy Udyan.
He in the notice said that he would file a writ petition with the High Court seeking necessary directives on the authorities concerned if they do not take a step in this regard.
The SC lawyer issued the legal notice two days before the Awami League’s council which is scheduled to be held at Suhrawardy Udyan on October 22-23.
