Kid goes missing after 'falling' into Dhaka canal
A six-year-old girl went missing after she reportedly fell into a canal near the capital's Mohakhali bus terminal yesterday.
Sanjida, daughter of rickshaw-van puller Shah Alam, was playing with her friend Tamim, 7, when the incident occurred around 3:00pm, locals said.
Tamim immediately informed her family members and neighbours.
“Three divers (of fire service) have been searching for the girl since 4:00pm,” said Wahiduzzaman, officer-in-charge (investigation) of Banani Police Station.
Fire service officials said the rescue operation continued until 12:40am today, but to no avail.
Earlier, local people also tried to rescue the kid.
The drive will restart at 6:00am today, the officials added.
