Khaleda calls paltry transit fee for India shameful
Terming “shameful” the transit fee fixed by the government for the transportation of Indian goods through Bangladesh territories, BNP chief Khaleda Zia yesterday said it reduced Bangladesh's dignity.
“Transit facility has been given to India at Tk 195, not even Tk 200 that is very disgraceful for us,” Khaleda told an iftar party at a Dhaka hotel, adding that Tk 700 to Tk 800 is needed for a bus or truck to cross the Jamuna Bridge.
Calling upon the freedom fighters and patriots to raise their voice to protect the country's interests, Khaleda said, “We are not getting the due share of water (of common rivers). No one is talking about it.”
Khaleda said the country has now turned into a “police state” due to a lack of democracy and an elected government. “The government is having police and Rab members kill people.”
