Joy AL's future leader: Quader
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's son Sajeeb Wazed Joy is the future leader of the Awami League, and he will be inducted into the party in due time, party General Secretary Obaidul Quader said yesterday.
He said billboards which were set up in the capital on the occasion of the party's 20th council would be removed by October 30.
"The Awami League has hopes and dreams about Sajeeb Wazed Joy. He is the party's future leader... We have to take into consideration his interest too. We can't impose any post on him,” Quader said.
The newly elected general secretary of AL was addressing a press briefing after the maiden meeting of the party secretaries at AL president Sheikh Hasina's Dhanmondi office. During the party council, the councillors demanded inclusion of Joy in the central committee, but Joy declined saying that it was not possible for him to hold a party post while staying outside the country, he said.
At the meeting, the secretaries finalised AL's programmes to observe Jail Killing Day on November 3, including a discussion at Krishibid Institution at 3:00pm, which will be chaired by Sheikh Hasina.
Party joint secretaries Mahbubul Alam Hanif, Dipu Moni, Jahangir Kabir Nanak and Abdur Rahman were, among others, present during the briefing.
